In 2014, our founder, Bucky Buchstaber, stood in a river in Oregon with a fly rod in hand and a simple but powerful question:

Could fishing help fight human trafficking?

That moment became the beginning of a movement.

What started as a vision grew into Fish Farm Collaborative - and ultimately Fish Well. Do Good. - a community built around the belief that our passion for fishing can create real, lasting change in the world.

Since then, we’ve been working upstream against two deeply connected injustices: food insecurity and human trafficking. By addressing hunger at its root, we help reduce the vulnerability that often leads to exploitation and trafficking.

This mission has never been about charity alone. It’s about sustainability, dignity, and opportunity.

Together, we’ve built 14 farms across 11 counties, helping provide fresh food to more than 2,500 children and families in need. Along the way, we’ve mentored foster youth, partnered with local communities, and invested in long-term solutions that empower people to thrive.

Our motto has always been simple:

Fish Well. Do Good.

It’s remarkable what can happen when a community with a shared passion rallies around a common purpose.

We believe in giving a hand up - not a handout.

As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, every contribution directly supports sustainable food systems for communities facing food insecurity. Proceeds from our hosted fishing experiences, gear collaborations, and apparel purchases help fund farms and programs that create lasting impact where it’s needed most.

Whether you’re an angler, outfitter, brand partner, or someone who simply believes in the mission, you’re invited to join us in creating change that lasts far beyond the water.
